Prey Movie - HOLY SH*T!
So, I spent the last 48hrs as such:
Woke up at 03:30EDT to shower, dress, and head to the airport.
Arrived at the RIC airport around 05:00EDT, breezed through security, sat down and started working.
Flight departed RIC for ATL on-time, landing at my initial leg around 07:45EDT
3.5hr layover… which consisted of: breakfast (Cheesy Egg Breakfast Bowl from Bobby’s Burger Palace, if you care…), more work prep, a bathroom break, and finding my co-worker before our flight out
Depart ATL around 12:15EDT (20mins delayed) for PHX
4.5 hours in the air (+/-)
Landed in PHX just after 13:00PST (10mins later than expected)
Took airport shuttle to rental car facility (25mins)
Drove to meeting location (22mins)
Arrived 1min prior to meeting start time
Plugged in the laptop, grabbed whiteboard markers, started presenting to an audience of 18 on-time (I haven’t gone pee yet…)
Presented for 2hrs, finishing exactly on-time; met with round of applause (hyperbole, but they did love the presentation)
Still haven’t peed since ATL…
Drove to happy hour/dinner location off-site (Loco Patron in Scottsdale)
Grabbed our reserved tables, ordered Coronas, tacos, wings, loaded asada fries, cilantro-lime grilled chicken tenders, and cheese curds
Finally went to pee
Consumed much protein, and four Coronas
Departed happy hour/dinner for the airport
Arrived at the airport approx. 20:00PST for a flight that departs 23:05PST
Waited…
Waited…
Waited…
Finally allowed into the Delta Sky Club to snack and relax
Flight delayed
Ate more shit in the Sky Club
Finally headed for my gate
Flight departs 30mins delayed (I have a 1hr layover in JFK pending)
Fly
Sleep
Finish reading Kaiju No.8., Vol.1
Sleep some more
Wake up in JFK 4mins early the next day (06:56EDT)
Walk to my gate
Flight delayed 15mins
Board flight
Pull away from the gate
Sit on tarmac for 3.5hrs for various delays…
Take-off for home
Land in RIC around noon EDT
Grab car, drive home
Traffic…
My usual 1hr drive became a 2hr drive
Dropped rental car off
Wife picks me up
Get home, do chores: mow lawn, pay bills online, move a dresser, build a spreadsheet for my comics, put away clean clothes, take a shower
Read manga
Fall asleep for 8.35hrs (damn that felt good…)
And now I’m in a self-inflicted quarantine to protect my family until I fly out again on Monday (a post for next weekend…).
Today, my wife hosted a bridal shower on our back patio for our eldest daughter. I’ve spent the day locked in my room so no one gets COVID if I’m carrying it. I wear a mask when outside my room. My daughter is getting married in two weeks, and I DO NOT want to be the one who messes that up because I was careless…
So, I sat in my room today and watched 6 episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam (1995), read Vol.1 of Heroman manga, and then watched the new Prey movie on Hulu.
I loved it. It was a near-flawless action film. Yes, the dialogue is a little clunky in places and outright bad in others, but the same is true for the original Predator movie. I can’t say enough good about this flick. I think it’s my favorite Predator franchise movie outside of the original. It’s really that much fun. Amber Midthunder was outstanding and Coco as Sarii was just as precious and wonderful as you’d want from a four-legged companion. Go watch it. Please comment here and LMK what you think!
Rewards Are Arriving!
For those of you who’re backers of my Spider-Squirrel no.3 campaign you’ll rejoice to know that the only physical rewards pending arrival are the metal bookmarks! Wo0t! That means I’ll begin shipping as soon as they arrive!
For now, I will begin signing, bagging, and boarding comics, and printing out packing lists for everyone. That’ll make the packing & shipping go more smoothly when the bookmarks arrive.
They’re coming…!!!
Milestone
Reminder that I’m launching my next project, Milestone, in just a few weeks! You can follow the pre-order page here: https://www.MilestoneComicbook.com
There will be a Zoop-exclusive cover from Netho Diaz (G.I. Joe, Marvel Comics) available ONLY with this campaign! Here’s a peek at that:
And, to give you fine folks some additional incentive, here are some teaser images from the second issue (all unedited WIPs):
There’s more to come!! As of right now, Milestone issue 1 is completed and Issue 2 has been written, drawn, and mostly colored. Issue 3 has been scripted and edited, and we’ll start the artwork very soon. Issue 4 is ready to be funded by this first campaign. LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN TOGETHER!!
Seriously, this can’t happen without you. And, funding Milestone’s first campaign doesn’t just help get Milestone on the shelves and in your hands, it also helps my upcoming Spider-Squirrel 80-Page Titan-Sized Annual #1 get published!
Here, I’ll drop some teasers for you from some of the back-up stories to be included in this annual:
And that’s all for now! I gotta save some teasers for later… plus, I’m running out of typing space for SubStack.
Have a GREAT week!
Talk soon!
