Welcome to my SubStack!
This is the first update of what I hope to be many entries to come. The goal will not be to inundate you with emails and posts, but to provide you with more information on what I’m doing with my Xion Studios properties, my commentary on comics in general, occasionally some life updates, and some news of my work outside of comics (not from my “day job” but my other ventures).
I’ll also drop some SubStack exclusive teasers and page previews from my projects, just for you!
The BAMF! Podcast
Today I had the pleasure of re-appearing on the BAMF! Podcast this afternoon and this time alongside the great Karl Kesel! Karl & I each have a Kickstarter campaign running and the gents at BAMF! gave us a great time to chat about them, among other things. Go give them a subscription and watch!

Xion Studios Is Growing!
So many fun books coming your way soon, and if you’re not really into the fun, zany adventures of Spider-Squirrel & Trash Panda, you’ll undoubtedly find something else in my universe that you will love. & enjoy.
Some titles that are nearing completion and will be heading to their own Kickstarter campaigns soon are Milestone (cosmic, introspective, legacy), Alpha-Elite (sponsored social media hero), and The Fundamentals (cosmic adventure, family).
Milestone #1 is completed, and Milestone #2 is already in-process with Ariel Medel (Evil Ernie) working his line art magic as you are reading this post! Alpha-Elite was originally going to be a three-issue mini-series, but we’ve decided to make it a larger one-shot with three “chapters” (Part I, Interlude, Part II).
The Fundamentals has five completed pages and seven drawn pages with six of those colored. This will be a one-shot as well, but Scott & I have many adventures planned ahead for this awesome family!
To make things even sweeter, there are more creators diving into the Xion Universe seemingly every day! With a great talent pool that already includes Vito Delsante, Ariel, Scott Fogg, Daniel Kalban, Omi Remalante, Ross Hughes, Micah Myers, Davide Tinto, HdE, and introducing DT “Sketch” Butchino & Craig Shepard (you’re going to love his lines in The Fundamentals!), we’ll be folding in Dan Faust and the incredible Dean Haspiel!
“Sketch” has written my New Teen Force 5 mini-series, which will be drawn by Kenan Halilović. Here’s a teaser page:
Dan has written the Rook: Return To Sender one-shot which will also feature art from Ariel Medel & Omi Remalante. Rook is a street-level hero in the vein of The Punisher, just… less murdery. In fact, Rook isn’t out to kill anyone — he’s trying to clear his name, end the machinations of an evil senator who runs Summit City, and reclaim his life.
Dean, on the other hand, is going to help me bring the weird to the Xion Universe! I have a six-page story from Dean in hand now and I’m so excited to bring this one to you. This new, super-secret character will make his debut in the upcoming Spider-Squirrel 80-Page Titan Annual #1!
This first titan will have a main story by me, showcasing our flagship character in a new, fresh adventure that bridges Spider-Squirrel volumes one and two, plus it will feature a host of creators each using their craft to give you an anthology of Xion Universe tales from all across the my worlds! Canadian heroes & villains, Japanese characters, a dash of horror, a splash of cosmic, and a pinch of kung-fu will all make up the recipe for a really dope annual!
