Recommendations for Campaigns Running May-June 2024
Welcome back to my latest Crowdfunding Corner!
In these posts I give readers my personal recommendations for crowdfunding campaigns that I’m supporting, following, or just really excited about for one reason or another.
I only promote campaigns from Kickstarter, Zoop, and IndieGoGo. I’m not opposed to other platforms, per se, but these three are the top audience-generating, most successful & mature platforms out there from my perspective. And so, they’re the only platforms I use.
Anyway, pre-ramble done, let’s get into some campaigns!!

Tap Or Die #1-3 - A NSFW Wrestling Comic
After getting screwed over by the commissioner of his pro wrestling league, Domino will stop at nothing to get his revenge.
This book and I have a history: Tap or Die #1 is the book that convinced me that Stokes is one of the creators I had to work with on my American Yakuza book. I had already conceptualized the premise, but after reading ToD I knew I had at least one of my co-creators for it.
Tap or Die is a great title for wrestling fans, drama fans, revenge story fans, or people looking for something fresh, new, and engaging. The first issue flies by fast as you’re thrust right into the action and drama, but the second issue pumps the brakes just a little to allow us to get fully into the characters, their connections, and understand more of Domino’s motivations. I’m very much looking forward to ToD3 and I’m a Backer of this campaign, fo’ sho!

Kingdoms of Dreams - Manga Part I
Fighters & Dreamers chase their goals in this fresh fantasy shonen manga inspired by Aesop's Fables.
This is not the first Mangatellers campaign I’ve backed and I’m fairly certain it will not be the last. I backed their first campaign, Mythos, Vol.1, when I saw it on Kickstarter. It' sits proudly on my shelf alongside other manga, manhwa, and related books.
Well, they’re back with their third campaign with Kingdom of Dreams, pt.1 and I’m looking forward to it even more than the first one! The art and production on these books is tops, and as much as I enjoyed Mythos, I think this one will be even better. Join me in supporting this campaign!

Spectress & Sabanion #1-5: Mystery, Suspense, Horror
An ancient ghost initiates her next major step into the living world with dangerous results. A supernatural thriller for adult readers.
I backed this one pretty much on first sight. I don’t typically back a lot of horror comics but this one looks richer and deeper than just ‘straight horror’ comics. It gives me The Mummy vibes (in a good way), and the Mog Park original art is a sexy plus. I missed out on the first few campaigns, so I jumped in at the Digital Catch-up Rewards Tier. Kurt is a great person and a prolific creator, so I’m confident you’ll enjoy this as much as I expect I’ll enjoy it!

The Lion of Olympus: Hera’s Wrath - A Greek Myth Comic
Hera is out to get Greece’s favorite hero, Herakles, in this brand new tale. Will he survive the threat against him or perish?
I’m a sucker for mythology (if you didn’t know before, you do now, LOL) and I’ve enjoyed several projects from Devin in the past, so this was pretty much a no-brainer for me.
I’m also working with Devin on a new project that we’ll hopefully kick into full-gear in the next few months! So, I’m not only a Backer but I’ll soon be a co-creator with him.

RIOT EARP issue 3 - 48 page CONCLUSION
Completes the first story arc. 56 pages total, plus catch up with the prior two issues and special.
I’ve been a RIOT EARP backer since the first issue hit Kickstarter! Michael has created a riotously-wild ride for readers that dips into all kinds of sexy fun!
It’s a whodunnit mixed with a splash of Bond’s sexiness stirred into a chaotic future (2055) adventure that honestly should be made into a Netflix or MAX television series, IMO! Hell, I’d watch it!

21 DOWN COLLECTION - PLUS ONE!
The hit Wildstorm series 21 DOWN from PALMIOTTI, GRAY & SIAZ gets collected for the first time with an unpublished 13th issue!
If you’re like me you’ve been waiting for this collection for a loooooooooong time! I only got to read a few issues (and not all in-order, either) when the series debuted originally, so being able to read them all together, in-order, and complete for the first time including the unpublished 13th issue was a must-back campaign.
I love Jimmy’s & Justin’s writing and Jesús’s art is just gorgeous. The premise is creative and catchy, and knowing the lead’s ending (hard to call him a protagonist — you’ll see) from the start makes the book even more of a compelling read. Join me and dive into this outstanding work!

Brackish #1 - Forbidden Love in the Florida Swamps
From the heart of the Florida Everglades emerges a romantic tragedy blending mystery, drama, and violence.
I love pretty much everything I’ve experienced from Hedrick, so this was a no-brainer even before I got a chance to read a reviewer copy. I’M IN!!!
I’ll post a separate newsletter for the review, but suffice to say I’m an eager, anticipating Backer!
